Deluge Of ‘Battleground State’ Polls Released Confirm Historic Blue Tsunami

President Donald Trump is struggling big time ahead of the November elections. On this past Thursday alone, a full 19 polls were released covering sets of voters in different swing states around the country, and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden led Trump in every single poll. The polls covered states from Michigan to Georgia, and although the margins definitely differed across the polling, in every single set of poll results, the message was the same: voters increasingly favor voting Trump out of office, even in states that Republicans might like to think of as safely “red.”

As Andrew Solender from Forbes explained:

‘A total of 19 polls of voters in swing states from four different pollsters were released Thursday, with former Vice President Joe Biden leading President Trump in every single one, including in historically Republican states like Arizona, Georgia and Texas… Biden’s wide lead in critical battleground states, and the competitiveness of historically Republican states, forces Trump to change up his strategy, which once included going after Democratic-leaning states like Minnesota and New Mexico.’

Now, Solender notes, the Trump campaign has been pressured into more of a defensive stance. Trump won Arizona in 2016, but in 2018, the state elected their first Democratic Senator in decades, and now, Biden leads in polls of voters in the state by an average of 4 percent, according to RealClearPolitics. Trump and Vice President Mike Pence have both stopped by Arizona recently. As part of the Trump campaign’s apparent effort to shore up support among the members of their base, Pence even went to Texas in recent days — which is one of the states where Biden led in the large number of polls released last Thursday.

Some of the highlights of that Thursday polling include double-digit leads for Biden in key swing states including Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, all of which Trump won in 2016. In the new poll numbers from the Republican firm Hodas & Associates, Biden was up by 18 percent in Michigan, 16 percent in Wisconsin, and 12 percent in Pennsylvania. The Obama-Biden ticket actually won all three of those states in 2008 with double-digit margins, so something along the lines of these latest poll numbers is definitely not outside the realm of possibility.

The great poll numbers extend on from there, too. In New York Times/ Siena College polling released this past Thursday, Biden led by 11 percent in Michigan and Wisconsin, 10 percent in Pennsylvania, 9 percent in North Carolina, 8 percent in Florida, and 7 percent in Arizona. Trump won all of those states in 2016, meaning Biden victories there would surely erode Trump’s barely-winning margin. Some of the “most shocking results” from last Thursday’s polling, as Forbes’s Andrew Solender put it, came in “polls of typically Republican-leaning swing states from Fox News,” which revealed Biden leads of 9 percent in Florida, 2 percent in North Carolina and Georgia, and 1 percent in Texas.

Trump has consistently ignored his sinking political chances. Like he’s done throughout his presidency, he’s dismissed the negative news of the low poll numbers as supposed fake news. It’s not fake news, though.
