President Donald Trump is counting on that his followers won’t care too much about reality as his attempt at re-election approaches. As his poll numbers continue to falter, he’s turning to increasingly reality-disconnected rants in an effort to boost his support. This Wednesday morning, he made absolutely ridiculous claims on Twitter about the policy platform that presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is running on. He claimed, for instance, that Biden is promoting “open borders” and “crime” — but that’s just not true, at all. Trump is lying.
Trump posted:
‘Has anybody seen or reviewed the written “pact” between Bernie Sanders & Sleepy Joe. It is further left than even Bernie had in mind. Open Borders, crime, really bad to cops and military – The guaranteed destruction of America. Joe never told us this. Never been so CLEAR!!!’

Again — what Trump is saying is not “clear” at all, because it’s not true. It’s a lie, and it’s a ridiculous one — he’s gotten so desperate that he’s claiming that Biden is promoting “the guaranteed destruction of America.” First of all — what exactly does that even mean? It’s supremely melodramatic and supremely hollow. Secondly: whatever way you look at the claim, Biden is definitely not promoting the “destruction of America.” That’s just a brazen lie.
Anderson Cooper: "Jim, is there *anyone* left in the administration who shakes their head when they hear the president rambling in the Rose Garden?"
Jim Acosta: "No, Anderson, we are down to Kool-Aid drinkers and next of kin."

Wednesday morning, Trump also tweeted some other nonsense about Biden. His desperation might be fueled by the fact that currently, Biden leads Trump by an average of 8.8 percent on the national level, according to RealClearPolitics.
“Joe Biden has made a lot of promises – and not gotten a lot done.” @foxandfriends That is the understatement of the year!!!

He also tweeted about a panoply of other topics. The tone of his tweets mirrored that of a “speech” that he delivered from the Rose Garden on Tuesday that quickly turned into a rambling, barely strung together, campaign diatribe. After the speech, CNN reporter Jim Acosta memorably quipped that at the White House, “we are down to Kool-Aid drinkers and next of kin” — which seems like a pretty accurate description. Acosta described the White House in that way after host Anderson Cooper asked if there was “anyone left in the administration who shakes their head when they hear the president rambling in the Rose Garden.”
