Dr. Biden spoke of meeting Joe Biden as a single father of two boys after having lost his wife and daughter in a car accident. After they married, she shared his children and parented them before losing the oldest, Beau Biden, died of cancer in 2015.
‘There are times when I couldn’t imagine how he did it—how he put one foot in front of the other and kept going. But I’ve always understood why he did it…He does it for you.’
Last night, folks from across the country came together to show how much stronger we are when we stand united. Looking forward to tonight where we'll talk about why leadership matters, and hear from my favorite #DemConvention speaker, @DrBiden. https://t.co/7nunEqhK9C

Dr. Biden also spoke in her capacity as an educator, pointing out the empty classrooms in America as children are kept home due to the coronavirus. She showed what would matter most to her as First Lady and what her focus in that position will be: education.
‘You can hear the anxiety that echoes down empty hallways. There’s no scent of new notebooks or freshly waxed floors. The rooms are dark and the bright young faces that should fill them are confined to boxes on a computer screen.’
“Dad we think it’s time we married Jill.”
