Pelosi Packs A Punch During Electric DNC Speech

On a night filled with powerful women speakers, including former First Lady, Senator from New York, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton; Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris, Speaker Nancy Pelosi spoke at the 2020 Democratic National Convention on Wednesday night, night three of the convention.

Pelosi spoke on the issues Democrats have tried to address in the House during Trump’s presidency since winning the majority in 2018, including lower healthcare costs, income equality, DACA rights, reducing gun violence, and addressing climate change. She reminded voters:

‘Who’s standing in the way? Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump.’

She spoke on the COVID-19 pandemic and the more than 170,000 American lives that have been lost to it thanks to the inept and ineffective leadership of the Trump administration. She talked about trying to strengthen the Affordable Care Act during a global pandemic rather than trying to dismantle it.

‘Who’s standing in the way? Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump.’

She also addressed Trump’s disrespect for both facts and for women, but said that Democrats have been unleashing the power of women by encouraging them to run and supporting their campaigns, fighting for women’s right to choose, upholding Roe v. Wade, a push for affordable childcare, and efforts to address equal pay for women. Once again she reminded us:

‘Who’s standing in the way? Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump.’

As Speaker Pelosi reminded us in her closing: Remember in November.
