President Donald Trump was apparently paying attention to cable news yet again this Monday morning, when he complained that CNN and MSNBC supposedly weren’t providing adequate coverage of the roll-call vote to renominate Trump for president that unfolded as part of the Republican National Convention (RNC) on Monday. PBS reported that Trump and Vice President Mike Pence themselves were slated to attend the roll call vote, but Trump was tweeting as if he was watching at least some of the proceedings on television prior to actually arriving on the premises.

Trump complained:

‘Incredible that @CNN & MSDNC aren’t covering the Roll Call of States. Fake News! This is what the Republican Party is up against. Also, I’d like to hear the remarks of the Delegates from individual States, rather than @FoxNews anchors. Ridiculous!’

It’s not like the roll-call vote to renominate Trump for president is some kind of groundbreaking, major news. Was there ever any doubt that the Republican Party would stick with Trump, no matter the destruction that he has enacted throughout his time in office? Just recently, a poll even came out from CBS/YouGov revealing that 57 percent of Republican respondents said that they felt the death toll from the Coronavirus — which has claimed some 180,000 lives in the U.S. — was “acceptable.” In other words, they’re all in. (Only 10 percent of Democrats and 33 percent of independents said the toll was “acceptable.”)

Meanwhile, early Monday, Trump added on Twitter:

‘All the Radical Left Democrats are trying to do with the Post Office hearings is blame the Republicans for the FRAUD that will occur because of the 51 Million Ballots that are being sent to people who have not even requested them. They are setting the table for a BIG MESS!’

Unsurprisingly, he is lying. The Monday House Oversight Committee with the Postmaster General is not some kind of conspiracy to shift blame for nonexistent election fraud onto Republicans. In reality, right now, mail service is slowing down around the country in the wake of policy changes that the Trump-allied Postmaster General implemented with not long until the general election, when many mail-in ballots are expected to be used.
