Uh oh, Donald Trump is in big trouble, because a federal judge just ordered him to halt his devious plan to cut short by 30 days collecting information and preparing the 2020 Census timelines. The Census is used to decide how much funding goes to state and local governments. POTUS is foiled again.
Kristen Clarke is the President and Executive Director of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. The 50-year-old organization’s mission is to “secure equal justice for all through the rule of law.” It is “dedicated to supporting and advancing diversity.”
Clarke released a statement that read:
‘The court rightfully recognized the Trump administration’s attempted short-circuiting of our nation’s census as an imminent threat to the completion of a fair and accurate process. President Trump and Secretary Ross’ decisions to undermine the process may have deprived vulnerable communities of fair representation and fair allocation of funds for the next 10 years or more.’
The Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a report in late summer indicating a shorter Census season would risk the accuracy of the committee:
