Years after leaving the White House, the Obamas remain popular. Now, some time after former First Lady Michelle Obama came out with her memoir Becoming — which was estimated to be the best-selling memoir in history — former President Barack Obama is coming out with his own memoir, the plan for which has been a topic of conversation for awhile. The former president’s book is called A Promised Land, and it’s slated to drop on November 17, shortly after the election. There’s a special website that’s been set up for it: ObamaBook.com.

On Twitter, the former president explained:

‘There’s no feeling like finishing a book, and I’m proud of this one. In A Promised Land, I try to provide an honest accounting of my presidency, the forces we grapple with as a nation, and how we can heal our divisions and make democracy work for everybody.’

As the presidential election has approached, both of the Obamas have been advocating on behalf of Democratic causes. Both of them delivered speeches that were broadcast as part of the recent Democratic National Convention, and the former president has campaigned alongside current Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden — his former vice president — at fundraising events. Meanwhile, among other avenues of work between the two of them, former First Lady Michelle Obama has also been leading voter outreach efforts via her organization When We All Vote, which seeks to drive an increase in Americans’ engagement in the electoral process.

On Thursday, Michelle commented on Twitter about Barack’s book. She shared:

‘There’s no one more reflective, more honest, and more thoughtful than [Barack Obama]. I’ve seen that in so many ways throughout our life together. And after seeing him pour his whole heart into this book, I know you will too.’

In the lead-up to the election, Trump has been complaining about the Obamas, again. He’s been referring on Twitter to “ObamaBiden,” as if the former president and vice president are the same person. They’re not, and polls show that more voters prefer Biden than Trump.
