Opposition to President Donald Trump is continuing to build across the country, with just a short time to go until the general election. Now, the anti-Trump conservative group known as The Lincoln Project has unveiled a new video ad against Trump that features a personal video message from a so-called “Lincoln Voter” named Mary, who lives in Ohio. “Lincoln voters,” like Mary, are voters who may have voted Republican in the past but this time are voting for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and his running mate, Kamala Harris. In the new Lincoln Project video, the voter named Mary says that she feels Trump uses Christianity as a “campaign prop” and insists that Biden and Harris represent a different vision for America.

She said, in part:

‘[Trump] uses Christianity as a campaign prop, and I don’t believe he values life. If he did, we would have a plan to get us out of this pandemic. I’m voting Democrat because I see my grandparents’ values reflected in Joe Biden and Kamala Harris… I see Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as a return to normalcy, decency, dignity, competency, and humanity in the White House. That’s the country my grandparents helped to build, and that’s the country I want my children living in.’

Watch her comments below:

Trump has, as Mary references, frequently seemed more concerned with the public image aspect of the pandemic than he’s been with the actual work of bringing the U.S. out of the thicket of the crisis. As of this weekend, over 200,000 Americans have died due to the pandemic, and deaths are continuing to accumulate. Many of these Americans may still be alive if Trump had decided to take a response road other than the one that he actually took. Throughout the crisis, he has complained that opponents of his administration are supposedly trying to make him look bad; he claims that his administration has done an “incredible job.” Hundreds of thousands of deaths is not an incredible job.

Americans are paying attention. On September 27, 2016, Hillary Clinton’s average national polling lead over Trump was 2.4 percent, according to RealClearPolitics. On September 27, 2020, Biden’s average national polling lead is 7 percent, according to the same source.
