When Joe Biden was a little boy, he went to a Catholic school. One of his assignments was to write something and read it before his class. The problem was that he had a stutter. When he started, the nun mimicked him. He turned and walked out the door and home. Joe’s mother took him right back to school and asked the nun if she had made fun of her son’s stutter. Of course, she had. That was when Joe’s mother said if she ever did that again, Mrs. Biden guaranteed she would be back and, in essence, knock her block off. The story does not end there.
On the campaign trail, Joe Biden stopped to talk to a little boy. His father said that he had a stutter, too, and wanted to hear the former vice president speak. Joe turned to the little boy and said:
‘Honey, I tell you what. Don’t let it define you. You’re smart as hell, now you really are (Characteristic of this disability). You can do this. Can I get a phone number from you? And I can tell you what I used to do? There’s about 25 stutterers I continue to work with.
Biden gave the boy a hug, then looked him in the eye:
‘But I promise you, I promise you, you can do it. And you know when I say I know about bullies. You know about bullies, kids who make fun?’
The narrator came on as the camera moved to Donald Trump making fun of a reporter on his 2016 campaign trail:
‘Bullies are cowards who tear other people down.’
Then, Trump at one of his earliest rallies told one of his Trumpers in the audience to:
‘Knock the. crap out of him, would you? Seriously? Just knock the hell. I promise you I will pay for the legal fees. I promise.’
The narrator came back and said:
‘It’s time for decency. It’s time for Joe Biden.’
Biden returned and said to the little guy:
‘I promise you. I promise you. Is it alright if I call him, Dad?’
