President Donald Trump is continuing his Twitter usage through his ongoing stay at Walter Reed Medical Center following positive Coronavirus test results. On Sunday afternoon, shortly after White House physician Dr. Sean Conley delivered a press conference at which he admitted that the president had briefly been on supplemental oxygen, Trump took to Twitter with a partially all-caps message in praise of his supporters who have gathered outside the hospital. Although unemployment remains high, and the Coronavirus is continuing to spread, Trump self-confidently proclaimed that his team is making the United States “GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE!”
Among other posts, he tweeted:
‘I really appreciate all of the fans and supporters outside of the hospital. The fact is, they really love our Country and are seeing how we are MAKING IT GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE!’

The president’s fundamental claim is, of course, rather outlandish on its face. It’s on par with his past claims that he has done more for the United States than any other president. He’s even claimed that he has done more for the black community in particular than any other president with the “possible exception” of Abraham Lincoln. None of these claims are true. They’re just not.
It’s noteworthy that even while in the hospital with the Coronavirus, Trump continues to speak in rather grandiose, culture war-oriented terms. He insists that his supporters outside the hospital “really love our Country.” Does he mean to imply that his non-supporters don’t “love our Country”? Sure they do. His opponents simply do not resort to the same reality-disconnected rhetoric as the president. His grandiose self-aggrandizement does not make up for the failures of his administration. At critical junctures, his administration has failed to secure nationwide supplies of material like Coronavirus tests and personal protective equipment.
At Conley’s Sunday press conference, the White House physician revealed that Trump had been given a steroid treatment. The particular steroid — dexamethasone — is one that “the WHO recommends only for “severe and critical” COVID cases,” New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman explains. Throughout the president’s illness, there’s been a struggle to get adequate information out of the White House.
Four pieces of information in that briefing: a) Trump's fever was "high" b) Trump's lung scans show "expected findings," unclear what that means but c) Trump is on a steroid the WHO recommends only for "severe and critical" COVID cases and d) Trump's oxygen lvls dropped again Sat
