Former New York City mayor and billionaire Mike Bloomberg has been running ads against President Donald Trump and in support of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in Florida, which is likely to be a key battleground state in the final election results. Trump has apparently seen these ads, and he’s upset — on Tuesday morning, he rushed to Twitter to rant against the supposed lies in the ads. He claimed that he is “much better for SENIORS than Sleepy” Joe Biden. In reality, Trump has spent months downplaying and ignoring the Coronavirus pandemic, which has routinely impacted senior communities more severely than other groups. Overall, the pandemic has claimed over 215,000 Americans’ lives, according to one prominent tally.

On Tuesday, Trump tweeted:

‘Mini Mike Bloomberg, who made a fool of himself on the Dems debate stage when Elizabeth Warren & the others simply took him apart, is going “crazy” trying to buy his way back into the Liberal Democrat’s hearts. His Florida ads are lies. I am much better for SENIORS than Sleepy!’

There is not any particular evidence that Bloomberg’s anti-Trump ads are some kind of scheme to make Democrats like him. Bloomberg hasn’t even always been a Democrat — he’s been a Republican and an independent too. The fact of the matter is that Bloomberg’s ads are presenting the truth, and just about all that Trump has in response are angry insults. He has left Americans behind while frequently concerning himself more with the public image of his administration than the actual human costs of the Coronavirus pandemic. He claimed in a follow-up tweet that he has “beat the Dems all day long” on responding to the Coronavirus. This claim is just ridiculous.

On Tuesday morning, Trump also said that he was “FEELING GREAT!” and insisted that he is “looking forward to the debate on the evening of Thursday, October 15th in Miami.” After his recent positive Coronavirus test results, there had been concerns about whether or not Trump would be in a position to attend the next scheduled presidential debate. The first debate was a national disgrace thanks to Trump’s nearly constant petulant interruptions. Moderator Chris Wallace repeatedly had to plead with Trump to stop interrupting.
