Trump Goes Ballistic On Rupert Murdoch After Fox Called Arizona

There is a civil war going on — not between homegrown terrorists and the not homegrown terrorists Gabriel Sherman tells us in Vanity Fair’s blog The Hive. No, this war is between Donald Trump and Fox News’ owner Rupert Murdoch. How did that happen?

Fox decided to call Arizona for the president’s opponent Joe Biden right before 11:30 last night. Trump hopped onto his phone and began screaming at the media mogul, demanding a retraction. Murdoch said no. Trump does not realize he is a lame-duck president, and his power quickly seeped out of the back door along with his Attorney General (AG) William Barr. Maybe, the president should look around for his AG, who has been markedly missing.

The two elderly TV men have been at it for months regarding how Fox has covered the election. POTUS complained about Fox’s polls, assuming that the network would fawn over him as the talking heads in the night did.

Murdoch has been calling the Trump campaign’s loss for months, even as the president complained to him, as if there was no difference between the news division and the opinion people:

‘We called it long before MSNBC! We were so worried about being seen as pro-Trump that we bent over backwards.’

Former adviser to Trump, Sam Nunberg said:

‘Fox News committed news malpractice and voter suppression last night. There’s got to be a change there or there will be major consequences. Chris Wallace wouldn’t shut up the whole night! I switched to CNN anytime he came on.’

After chewing on Murdoch, Trump decided to crown himself king of these United States. At about 2:30 a.m., according to Joe Pompeo speaking to TheVanity Fair:

‘[He did the] unhinged, dangerous, democracy-destabilizing thing that we all hoped we wouldn’t have to see him do, giving a speech at the White House in which he prematurely declared victory even as millions upon millions of legitimate votes were still being counted.’

The purpose of all of Trump’s dictator “bluster” was frame the results in his favor. MSNBC’s Brian Williams said:

‘We are reluctant to step in, but duty bound to point out when he says, ‘We did win this election, we’ve already won,’ that’s not based in the facts at all.’

Also with Williams, Nicolle Wallace said:

‘It’s straight-up autocratic malarkey, and what we have to keep in mind is that he’s not the boss of the counting.’

Charlotte Klein commented:

‘Trumpworld isn’t happy with Fox News, which leaped ahead of its network competitors in calling Arizona for Biden. Senior Adviser Jason Miller tweeted “WAY too soon to be calling Arizona…way too soon. We believe over 2/3 of those outstanding Election Day voters are going to be for Trump. Can’t believe Fox was so anxious to pull the trigger here after taking so long to call Florida.”’
