President Donald Trump is a liar. Since losing the presidential election to Joe Biden, he’s been trumpeting lies about the electoral process, claiming that widespread fraud plagued the proceedings. There’s no meaningful basis for his claims, and the Department of Homeland Security itself has characterized the recent election as the “most secure in American history.” On Twitter this Saturday afternoon, Trump claimed that the “hand recount taking place in Georgia is a waste of time” because officials “are not showing the matching signatures” — but the Georgia Department of State (which is led by Republicans!) has already spoken out in defense of the signature-matching portion of the state’s ballot processing procedures.
Trump angrily tweeted as follows:

Trump has already recently complained about a change to signature-matching procedures in the state of Georgia. In short, the change means that two out of three reviewers must agree that a signature doesn’t match for the accompanying mail-in ballot to get set aside. The procedure change helps guard the signature-matching process against an improperly large rate of ballot rejection — in theory, at least.
No matter what specific allegations that Trump makes about the recount process, Georgia’s Deputy Secretary of State Jordan Fuchs has insisted as follows:
‘Signature match is intact and the General Assembly passed legislation to allow voters who failed to include a signature time to add one. Fulton County only had one rejected ballot in 2018 and now they have thousands. We strengthened signature match, and will continue to do so, period.’
Amazingly, on Saturday, Trump also claimed that “hundreds of thousands” of his supporters had turned out to the streets of D.C. to protest the results of the election and express support for the president’s lie that the election had been “rigged.” There’s absolutely no apparent evidence that “hundreds of thousands” of the president’s supporters were actually in D.C. on Saturday. The Washington Post, which had reporters on the scene, estimated that the overall crowd topped out in the “thousands” range. In one of his tweets, Trump claimed that “the Fake News Networks aren’t showing these massive gatherings,” but he made this “massive gatherings” next to a photo of a crowd that itself isn’t all that large. The pictured crowd fills a wide space in front of a couple of buildings… and that’s pretty much it.

In a separate tweet, Trump insisted that “People are not going to stand for having this Election stolen from them by a privately owned Radical Left company, Dominion.” Recently, Trump claimed that millions of his votes had been “deleted” by Dominion Voting Systems software. The Department of Homeland Security itself has confirmed that this alleged vote deletion did not happen. In yet another tweet, Trump insinuated that Republican observers were systematically blocked from watching ballot-processing, which is simply not true.
