Kayleigh McEnany Embarrasses Herself At Wednesday Press Conference

The Trump team is sticking by their refusal to conclusively concede to the fact that Joe Biden won the recent presidential election. At a Wednesday press conference, after a reporter asked if Trump still thinks that he “has a path to win,” White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany self-confidently replied that “the president has said he believes all legal votes should be counted and all illegal votes should not be counted, and in fact, the campaign is pursuing that litigation” in certain battleground states. These remarks might obscure the outrageousness of the Trump team’s position. Local election officials around the country, the Department of Homeland Security, and Attorney General Bill Barr — a Trump loyalist! — have confirmed that no evidence has emerged proving systematic election fraud.

Check out McEnany’s comments below:

Whether or not the recent presidential election was secure is not an open question. Ignorance, willful or otherwise, of the basic security measures that are in place around the country does not translate into those basic security measures magically disappearing. Top Trump ally Rudy Giuliani, who the outgoing president has so far stuck close by as the campaign’s legal fights proceed with Giuliani at the helm, has repeatedly claimed that a centrally planned Democratic conspiracy to rig the election for Biden unfolded during the recent presidential race. There is zero meaningful evidence for this claim.

At the Wednesday press conference, McEnany also yet again tried to tie Democratic leaders to support of violence. High-profile Democratic leaders, including Joe Biden himself, have unequivocally condemned all forms of violence over and over again. These leaders have shown zero acceptance of rioting, looting, or violence in any form. Trump allies still sound like they’re living in some fantasy world where Joe Biden is trumpeting his support for violent rioting through a metaphorical megaphone.

On Wednesday, McEnany belligerently insisted that “if you can loot businesses, burn down buildings, engage in protest, you can also go to a Christmas party; you can celebrate the holiday of Christmas responsibly.” Even to the very end of their time in power, as Americans literally suffer and die through a raging pandemic, the Trump White House sounds more committed to scoring political “gotcha!” points than meaningfully leading the nation.
