Another Trump-allied lawsuit over the election results has failed. In Wisconsin, Sidney Powell — who the president once announced as a member of his own legal team before a rather unceremonious apparent firing — challenged the presidential election results and, ludicrously, demanded so-called relief in the form of “[an] order requiring [Wisconsin] Governor [Tony] Evers to transmit certified election results that state that President Donald Trump is the winner of the election.” In other words, Powell wanted the court to set aside the actual will of the people in Wisconsin and order the declaration of Trump as the winner. In a new ruling rejecting Powell’s unhinged lawsuit, the United States District Court in the Eastern District of Wisconsin noted that “judges do not appoint the president in this country.”

The Wisconsin court’s ruling reads, in part, as follows:
‘The pleadings that have been filed over the past week are passionate and urgent. People have strong, deep feelings about the right to vote, the freedom and opportunity to vote and the value of their vote. They should. But the legal question at the heart of this case is simple. Federal courts have limited jurisdiction. Does a federal court have the jurisdiction and authority to grant the relief this lawsuit seeks? The answer is no. Federal judges do not appoint the president in this country. One wonders why the plaintiffs came to federal court and asked a federal judge to do so. After a week of sometimes odd and often harried litigation, the court is no closer to answering the “why.” But this federal court has no authority or jurisdiction to grant the relief the remaining plaintiff seeks.’

Fundamentally, Powell’s scheme — which included so-called “Kraken” lawsuits in other states — is anti-democratic and threatens the very foundation of the electoral process in the United States. Powell and her allies, including the president himself, have alleged a nationwide election fraud scheme of staggering proportion for which there’s simply no legitimate evidence. Local election officials from around the country, the Department of Homeland Security, and Attorney General Bill Barr have all confirmed that there is no legitimate evidence of election outcome-altering fraud. Nevertheless, Donald Trump himself has continued to very publicly call for overturning the election outcome, as it stands at present.

On Thursday morning, Trump posted the angry message on Twitter: “WISDOM & COURAGE!!!” The implication seems to be that he wants judges to have the “wisdom and courage” to go along with his fight against the election results. In reality, the Trump-allied court fights have consistently failed in front of conservative and liberal judges across the country, and none of the president’s allies have come anywhere close to changing the election outcome.
