Pennsylvania AG Talks Trash To Trump Over SCOTUS Loss

On Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected a lawsuit in which Texas and its allies — including President Donald Trump’s own team — sought the invalidation of the presidential election outcome in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Georgia, all of which President-elect Biden won. Trump’s own three nominees were among the justices who concluded that Texas’s side didn’t even have legal standing to bring their case. After the Supreme Court’s rejection, Pennsylvania state Attorney General Josh Shapiro (D) praised the development — and pledged to continue to fight any future efforts to rollback electoral freedom.

Shapiro commented as follows:

‘The US Supreme Court saw through this seditious abuse of the judicial process, and its swift denial should make anyone contemplating further attacks on our election think twice. While these stunts are legally insignificant, their cost to our country — in misleading the public about a free and fair election and in tearing at our Constitution — is high and we will not tolerate them from our sister states or anyone else. On Monday, the Electoral College will meet, and Pennsylvania’s 20 Electors will cast their votes to reflect the will of the people. My office has successfully protected Pennsylvanians right to vote against a constant assault over the past six months, and we will continue that fight as long as necessary.’

There is no legitimacy to the attacks from Trump and his allies against the election results, which have failed in courts across the country in front of conservative and liberal judges alike. The Department of Homeland Security, Attorney General Bill Barr, and local election officials around the country have all confirmed that there’s no legitimate evidence of election outcome-altering fraud — Trump’s claims otherwise are an authoritarian fever dream and an attack on the democratic process in the United States.

Over on his own Twitter page, Trump has not taken well to the rejection from the Supreme Court. In one Saturday morning post, he insisted in all caps that he “WON THE ELECTION IN A LANDSLIDE,” but there’s no way around the fact that this claim is a delusion. He can not bluster his way out of the basic reality that he lost. The electoral process in the United States does not revolve around Donald Trump, no matter if President Victim Complex behaves otherwise.
