OAN News Hit With Legal Notice Over Slanderous Voting System Lies

Donald Trump has cast out a sickening, toxic litigation cloud that has affected the nation’s climate. Attorneys representing him in 50-plus lawsuits did not even try to hide how lacking in evidence their cases were when they came before the judges. Of course, lying would get them into legal trouble. We rarely notice how many people have decided to go the legal road, turning the tables on Donald Trump and his conservative media cohorts.

The president’s attorneys faced tough questioning from the court’s liberals in Wisconsin, who said it was unfair for him to try to eliminate more than 220,000 ballots in the state’s most populous counties while letting ballots that were cast in the same ways in other counties alone

Justice Jill Karofsky laid into Trump’s attorney Jim Troupis, The Huffington Post reported:

‘This lawsuit, Mr. Troupis, smacks of racism. This isn’t about the amount of money that this recount cost. This is about disenfranchising voters in two counties, and only two counties, in the state of Wisconsin.’

Troupis said the president hit just two counties to save money. Of course, Trump has raised hundreds of millions of dollars in his farewell scam to his voters. At least, we hope, perhaps futilely, that POTUS is going to leave alone those loyal voters and their Social Security checks.

The judge scoffed when the attorney came up with the save-money tactic.

Now, Smartmatic has announced that it is “issuing legal notices and retraction demand letters to Fox News, Newsmax, and One America News Network for publishing false and defamatory statements” about its corporation after the 2020 election.

The voting systems organization claimed that these “inaccurate statements” were part of a whole “disinformation campaign” with the goal of hurting “Smartmatic and discrediting the 2020 U.S. election.”

Smartmatic claimed that these media companies could have determined the “falsity of the statements…[prior to] publishing them to their millions of viewers and readers.” The technical company wrote that it was not involved in the public and private citizens’ allegations during the 2020 election. In addition, numerous fact-checkers have called out the false statements against Smartmatic. These negative statements have appeared with a systemic frequency and verbiage.

The corporation’s CEO Antonio Mugica spoke about his company:

‘They have no evidence to support their attacks on Smartmatic because there is no evidence.  This campaign was designed to defame Smartmatic and undermine legitimately conducted elections. Our efforts are more than just about Smartmatic or any other company.  This campaign is an attack on election systems and election workers in an effort to depress confidence in future elections and potentially counter the will of the voters, not just here, but in democracies around the world.’

Smartmatic started up in 2000 and provides secure election technologies in 25 countries. In its history, the company has recorded over five billion votes, which are all auditable. All with not even one security breach.

The corporation’s role in the 2020 election was as “the manufacturing partner, system integrator, and software developer for Los Angeles County’s publicly owned voting system.”

President Jimmy Carter (D) spend much of his career after leaving the presidency going to other countries to help ensure free, fair, and open elections:

‘[Smartmatic’s systems received] praise from the Carter Center, The Organization of American States (OAS), the European Union (EU), and the United Nations development Programme (UNDP).  Smartmatic is an approved vendor of the United States Department of Defense and a founding member of the Department of Homeland Security Council for the Election Infrastructure Subsector.’

Smartmatic informed the media companies:

‘In its demand letters, Smartmatic informed the organizations that it is reserving all its legal rights and remedies, including its right to pursue defamation and disparagement claims.’
