Trump Staffer Announces Plot To Bypass Electoral College Vote

During a Monday morning appearance on Fox & Friends, top Trump staffer Stephen Miller seemed to reveal yet another Trump team plot to undermine the election outcome. He insisted that a so-called “alternate slate of electors” would be voting in “contested states” around the country on Monday, and, in the event of court victories for the Trump team, the votes of this “alternate slate of electors” could replace the votes of electoral college members that respective states have actually chosen, he claimed. In reality, there is no apparent actual legal mechanism for so-called alternate slates of electors — if states have certified their election results by a particular deadline that passed last week, then those results are considered final under federal law.

There’s also no particular indication of any kind of looming court victories for the Trump team. Trump and his allies have lost dozens of times in post-election litigation, and none of them have come remotely close to overturning the election outcome in a single state. Miller sounds like he lives in a delusional alternate reality in which these facts simply don’t matter — or something.

On Fox, he ranted as follows:

‘The only date in the Constitution is January 20th. So we have more than enough time to right the wrong of this fraudulent election result and certify Donald Trump as the winner of the election. As we speak, today, an alternate slate of electors in the contested states is going to vote, and we’re going to send those results up to Congress. This will ensure that all of our legal remedies remain open. That means that if we win these cases in the courts, that we can direct that the alternate slate of electors be certified. The state legislatures in Georgia, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania can do the same, and likewise Congress has that opportunity as well to do the right thing.’

The Department of Homeland Security, Attorney General Bill Barr, and local election officials around the country have all confirmed that there’s no legitimate evidence of outcome-altering election fraud. In his misguided attempt at an explanation, Miller delusionally cited “hundreds of thousands” of ballots supposedly cast “improperly” in Wisconsin, but courts in that state have repeatedly rejected the Trump team’s arguments.

Miller angrily added as follows:

‘If you just cured three simple Constitutional defects, Donald Trump’s the winner of this election, whether it’s the signature matching in Georgia that was illegally changed as the result of the Consent Decree without the legislature’s approval, or whether it’s the hundreds of thousands of improperly cast ballots in Wisconsin — absentee voters, who never actually submitted the request for an absentee ballot, or whether you’re talking in Pennsylvania, the clear Equal Protection violation when Democrat ballots were cured in advance of Election Day and Republican ballots weren’t. These are just three of hundreds of violations that we’ve documented, and those three violations alone make Donald Trump the winner of the 2020 election.’

Check out Miller’s comments below:

Whether Trump and his allies like it or not, Joe Biden will be the next president of the United States. Trump’s implication that there’s any remotely legitimate mechanism whatsoever by which he and his allies could prevent this outcome is utterly delusional.
