Donald Trump continues to push delusional falsehoods about the election, which he claims was plagued by widespread, systematic fraud that swung the outcome for President-elect Joe Biden. In fact, Bill Barr (in one of his last acts as Attorney General), an agency of the Department of Homeland Security, and local election officials of both major parties around the country have all confirmed that there’s no legitimate evidence of election outcome-altering fraud, and judges of both major parties have rejected the Trump team’s claims about the election across the country.
On Saturday, Trump bluntly claimed on Twitter that Biden “didn’t win the Election,” which is simply false. The Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency at the Department of Homeland Security confirmed last month that there is “no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised.” Nevertheless, Trump petulantly added as follows:
‘[Biden] lost all 6 Swing States, by a lot. They then dumped hundreds of thousands of votes in each one, and got caught. Now Republican politicians have to fight so that their great victory is not stolen. Don’t be weak fools!’

Pieces of Trump’s main so-called evidence for his claim that fraudsters “dumped” fraudulent votes in swing states include post-Election Day changes to vote tallies. These tallies changed, however, because authorities and frontline workers were tabulating the votes, and authorities don’t wait until they’re finished with the ballot counting process to release numbers. This concept is not complicated. At essentially no point in modern American history have authorities finished processing ballots within a day or so of Election Day. Does Trump hope that Americans simply ignore this very basic precedent, accepting his outlandishly conspiratorial supposed explanation for this mundane process in its place?
Trump consistently promotes desperate delusion. His claim that imaginary fraudsters “got caught” hearkens back to his claim that Barack Obama “got caught” spying on Trump’s campaign while the former president was in office. In one Twitter post in October, Trump claimed that “Obama, Biden, Crooked Hillary and many others got caught in a Treasonous Act of Spying and Government Overthrow, a Criminal Act” — but, like the election fraud claims, this rather unhinged claim is false. The Obama administration did not spy on the Trump campaign. Judicially-supervised surveillance of an ex-Trump aide once that aide, Carter Page, no longer worked with Trump simply doesn’t equal spying on the Trump campaign.
