Cindy McCain Clowns On Republicans For Censuring Her

Well, is the Arizona GOP just worse than words? It is like a big lazy snake curled around a dusty desert rock, just waiting for a woman on crutches to come within reach before sinking its fangs into her good leg. The widow of a true American hero, Senator John McCain (R-AZ) certainly is not on crutches, but her husband died of brain cancer just two years ago. Her response gives us a hint about why the senator married her.

The Grand Old Party plans to vote on whether to censure Cindy McCain and retired Senator Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) for supporting President-elect Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election. The Republicans are going after Governor Doug Ducey (R) for how he dealt with the coronavirus pandemic, too, according to The Arizona Republic. They better be careful, the senator just might haunt them.

She was in “good company.” After all, the Republicans censured John McCain in 2014 over his voting record:

‘You know, I’m in good company, your dad was censured by them. I think I’m going to make T-shirts for everyone and wear them.’

McCain appeared with her daughter Meghan McCain on ABC’s The View Thursday.

‘It’s about doing what’s right for the country. Certainly, Sen. Flake and our governor have made some very tough decisions lately and in the past, but it was for the good of our state and our country.’

‘[It seems] very [angry] and bitter for a state that’s now blue. I don’t understand the anger and hostility, I found it deeply hurtful, and I know you did, too.’

Lifelong Republican Cindy McCain lamented that the Republicans have “lost our way.” Now, it is time “to get back on track:”

‘I truly hope that as things progress on and we get away from this mess that occurred, that we can do just that, we can get back on track and remind everyone that we’re here for the country and not for the party.’

Biden became the first Democratic presidential candidate to win Arizona since 1996. In another first since the 1950’s, the Democrats hold both of the state’s Senate seats:

‘Cindy McCain to @TheView on the possibility of being censured by Arizona GOP: “It’s about doing what’s right for the country…Sen. Flake and our Gov. Ducey have made some very tough decisions lately and in the past—but it was for the good of our state and for our country.”‘
