Graham Announces Pelosi Is To Blame For Trump’s Insurrection

Over the weekend, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) made an appearance on the Fox News program Sunday Morning Futures with host Maria Bartiromo, where he pathetically groveled in the name of Trumpism to the point that he suggested that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) bears some responsibility for the recent deadly violence at the U.S. Capitol. Besides offering a direct message to soon-to-be ex-President Donald Trump — whose “policies will stand the test of time,” Graham said — the South Carolina Senator ranted that it’s Pelosi’s “job to provide Capitol security,” as if the real problem is that Congressional leaders weren’t effectively prepared on a moment’s notice for a mob of violent Trump supporters.

Graham, startlingly, commented as follows:

‘To see people come and take over the Capitol, the House and the Senate, beat officers, defile the seat of government — how in the hell could that happen? Where was Nancy Pelosi? It’s her job to provide Capitol security. We’ll get to the bottom of that.’

Watch his comments below:

This deranged-sounding blame for Nancy Pelosi amidst the fallout from the Capitol rioting completely rushes past the blame that those actually involved in the rioting bear for their own actions. It’s barely a step away from the unhinged video message that Trump himself shared on the day of the rioting, in which he insisted — addressing the rioters! — that “we love you” and “you’re very special.” In a follow-up post from his since-removed Twitter account, Trump brazenly justified the violence, claiming that “these are the things and events that happen” when an election victory is stolen, which, of course, did not actually happen, no matter the outgoing president’s claims otherwise. Trump himself helped incite the riot with his months of delusional lies that the presidential election was rigged against him.

During his time on Fox, Graham also — incredibly — claimed that Trump is “trying to heal the nation,” which is in no way reflective of the actual reality of the situation. Trump incited a deadly riot — which, apparently, is at least partly the fault of Nancy Pelosi, in Graham’s estimation. Graham complained that President-elect Joe Biden would supposedly be “incredibly weak” if he doesn’t “stand up against the impeachment of Donald Trump after he leaves office,” referring to Trump’s upcoming Senate trial. In reality, what space is there for genuine “unity” without a level of accountability?
