In addition to a Senate trial where Trump faces a possible conviction for inciting a riot against the government he was sworn to protect and serve, the now ex-president is also facing a potential criminal case in the Southern District of New York related to alleged tax and bank fraud. With few supporters left in government and without the protection of the office of the presidency to shield him, Trump faces real consequences for some of his actions.

On Thursday, a tax firm who represented the Trump Organization announced that they would no longer do so. Morgan Lewis & Bockius tom reporters that, while battling the SDNY during their investigation into Trump’s taxes, they will be cutting ties with the former president and referring his business elsewhere.

As reported by The Wall Street Journal:

‘The firm, Morgan Lewis & Bockius, is currently wrangling with the New York attorney general’s office over documents related to its work for the former president’s business, the Trump Organization. Led by Democratic Attorney General Letitia James, the office is conducting a civil-fraud probe into Mr. Trump’s financial dealings.’

The firm joins a growing list of businesses and organizations cutting ties with Trump and his businesses. Banks have closed Trump’s accounts, real estate agencies are refusing to sell his properties, the state of New York has cut contracts with him, and the PGA pulled out of an agreement to allow Trump’s golf resort to host the tournament.

A Morgan Lewis spokeswoman told reporters that:

‘We have had a limited representation of the Trump Organization and Donald Trump in tax-related matters. For those matters not already concluded, we are transitioning as appropriate to other counsel.’

However, losing the firms representing him legally will have an even more significant impact as Trump faces growing legal battles. Reports say that other firms involved with the Trump Organization and Donald Trump himself are distancing themselves from the former president.

‘Meanwhile, Alston & Bird, which had represented Trump in a business dispute that was litigated at the trial court level last year, said it would not be working with him in the future.

‘Among other law firms who’d done work for the former president and his businesses, Seyfarth Shaw was the first to indicate that it would no longer serve the Trump Organization as counsel.’
