Mar-a-Lago Members Abandon Ship To Distance From Toxic Trump

America may have thought that Donald Trump would take his red MAGA hat and slink back to his Southern White House, Mar-a-Lago. Once there, he would become the king of the manor dressed to the nines with Melania on his arm. That has not really panned out.

Instead of having people come up to him for just a taste of reflected glamor, the wealthy members have felt the former president’s hard fall from power. They simply do not like the smell of his deflated defeat.

Author of a book about the rich retreat Laurence Leamer told MSNBC that Mar-a-Lago’s mood has changed. It is a “sad” “dispirited” place. Why pay $200,000 a year for that? He said:

‘I’ve talked to a bunch of people the last couple of days. A lot of people have quit Mar-a-Lago.’

Maybe, Trump’s father’s wisdom that being a loser was the worst thing in the world had some merit. Then too, the ex-president’s foul mood has probably rubbed off on the resort.

The author of Mar-a-Lago: Inside the Gates of Power at Donald Trump’s Presidential Palace added that no one really wanted to be affiliated with the owner. Many feared they would be caught on camera with him, and that is why they have been leaving in droves.

Leamer said Trump’s low numbers in the polls have also turned off members:

‘They don’t want anything to do with Donald Trump. Many of the members, they’re not going there very often because it’s a very dispirited place. It’s a sad place for Trump to be hanging out. It’s not what it was.’

Actually, Trump has been finding out that a lame-duck president and an ex-president, especially one who tried to overthrow the government, just does not have that power zing that real presidents have had.

He may also have discovered that people never really liked him, just the diffused power that surrounded him. Leamer said later:

‘They’re walking away from him. Even here, people don’t like him.’

Members have worried about having him live there for a long time. After all, he signed an agreement that he would not make Mar-a-Lago his permanent residence. But since when has he followed the rules?

Those neighbors apparently have sued him to keep him from living there permanently The Washington Post reported. They also sent the Secret Service and the Palm Beach authorities the same information in a letter. They said he should leave rather than face an “embarrassing situation,” being evicted.
