That disturbing sound we hear is the Republican Party trying to tear itself in two. There are the more traditional members trying to purge people like the unhinged, belligerent gun-toting Representative Marjorie Greene (R-GA) and the Trumpers trying to purge everyone else. Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has about had it with the minority House party.
Greene follows teenaged anti-gun activist survivors of the Parkland School shooting around harassing them, according to NBC News. She tells them that their experience is a lie and that she is carrying a gun. Imagine if that was us or our children she stalked. Greene has publicly claimed violence up to and including death against members of her own Capitol associates, CNN reported. The people who are trying to represent us have to deal with a clearly unbalanced woman carrying a loaded weapon and avoiding the new metal detectors.
Greene won her district, because she was unopposed. Her opponent Kevin Van Ausdal dropped out of the race. Few of her Republican colleagues have had anything to say about her actions. Their silence is sending ice down Americans’ spines.
Pelosi said starkly “the enemy is within” the House. When she was asked about that comment, the Speaker responded:
‘It means that we have members of Congress who want to bring guns on the floor and have threatened violence on other members of Congress.’
Pelosi said “It is absolutely appalling:”
‘It is absolutely appalling, and I think that the focus has to be on the Republican leadership of this House of Representatives for the disregard that they have for the death of those children.’
Pelosi said it’s “beyond the pale” that the minority would put her on the Education panel:
‘What could they be thinking? Or is thinking too generous a word for what they might be doing?You’re just going to have to ask them why they thought that that raised itself to the level of something appropriate to do in the Congress of the United States.’
Military veteran Representative Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) thinks that she does not represent his party:
‘I don’t think she should have the privilege of any committees.’
McCarthy said he would speak to her — again. He already spoke to her regarding the impeachment articles and stressed that he disagreed with the resolution. He told Greta Van Susteren:
‘That’s exactly what the Democrats did with President Trump, and why we disagreed with when they wanted to come after him for purely political reasons.’
Clearly, McCarthy’s slaps on the hand are as ineffective as his begging forgiveness from citizen Donald Trump Wednesday.
Greene is a perfect example of what a QAnon conspiracy theory supporter acts like. She is the rebel who stalks around the Capitol maskless face first, intentionally and blatantly disregarding the House rules. She has no intention of serving as a model to the public on coronavirus control or to protect her fellow representatives and staff.
On day two of President Joe Biden’s on the job, she lost no time in filing an impeachment resolution.
The more we learn about the Georgian representative, the worse it gets. Democrat Representative Jahana Hayes (D-CN) is circulating a letter to halt Greene from being seated on the Education panel. Committee Chair Representative Bobby Scott (D-VA) called upon Minority Leader McCarthy:
‘Explain how someone with this background represents the Republican party on education issues.’
And Representative Jimmy Gomez (D-CA) has no patience for hand-holding. He has indicated that he is introducing a resolution to expel her.
