Marjorie Taylor Greene Wakes Up & Panic Tweets Her Morning Meltdown

On Thursday, the House voted to remove Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) from her committee assignments over issues including her previous repeated expressions of apparent support for executing prominent Democrats. On Friday, Greene responded to the expulsions on Twitter with a bizarre statement in which she said that she “woke up early this morning literally laughing,” which doesn’t exactly help her effort to convince observers that she’s not off in la-la land. During remarks on the House floor on Thursday, Greene affirmed her belief that 9/11 “absolutely happened” and that school shootings are real and not staged… but the fact that, because of her past rhetoric, she was ever in a place where these statements were called for is ridiculous.

Greene commented on Twitter as follows:

‘I woke up early this morning literally laughing thinking about what a bunch of morons the Democrats (+11) are for giving some one like me free time. In this Democrat tyrannical government, Conservative Republicans have no say on committees anyway. Oh this is going to be fun!’

What is she even trying to say, exactly? What is she imagining doing with her new “free time”? Besides the bizarre nature of her behavior, the vaguely threatening aspect of these new remarks doesn’t exactly help her case either. During debate over the measure to remove Greene from her committee assignments, which included spots on the Education and Budget committees, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) printed out one of Greene’s particularly incendiary posts and showed it to Republicans. In the image, Greene is holding a gun next to images of progressive women of color in Congress including Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.). Only 11 Republicans ended up voting in favor of removing Greene from committees.

Greene’s controversial past rhetoric also includes support for the delusional QAnon conspiracy theory, which insists that top Democrats are secretly cannibals and Satan-worshipers. During her remarks on the House floor on Thursday, Greene distanced herself from the conspiracy theory, but she said that she was “allowed to believe” falsehoods, which is a bizarre attempt at deflecting responsibility for her own thoughts and words.

On Friday, Greene also issued vaguely threatening remarks towards Republicans who voted in favor of impeachment and her committee removals. She said as follows:

‘First 10 who voted for the impeachment of President Trump. Then 11 who voted with Democrats against me, opening the door for every Republican to be taken. The base is keeping list of these type of “R’s.” They’re fed up. This type of betrayal will cost us the majority in ‘22.’
