Adam Schiff Makes Marjorie Greene Look Dumb During NBC Interview

Ahead of the impending second Senate impeachment trial proceedings for Donald Trump, which will get underway in coming days, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) appeared on Meet the Press over the weekend, where he reiterated the importance of swiftly moving to hold Trump accountable for his incitement of violence. Formally, the House charged Trump with incitement of insurrection after his deranged lies about election integrity provided the pretense for a mob of his supporters who stormed the Capitol building on January 6, putting the lives of members of Congress and others in danger. In outdoor remarks in D.C. on the day of the riot, Trump encouraged his supporters to “fight like hell.”

Fundamentally, every member of the House and Senate who was present during the joint session of Congress that was underway on January 6 is a witness to the case. They were all personally subjected to the ramifications of the violence — some of them, presumably, saw the crazed rioters, and some of them might have heard the chants, which included “Hang Mike Pence!”

Schiff commented as follows:

‘Here, there was a real sense of urgency, because the president had just incited a mob that attacked the Capitol… and we felt in the House, as well as 10 of the Republicans, that every day he remained in office, he was a danger to the country, and we simply couldn’t sit still and wait for weeks or months while this man posed a danger to the country.’

The Republicans who pretend like this continuing threat didn’t exist are denying what they themselves went through, in a way.

On Meet the Press, Schiff also addressed Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), who the House recently voted to remove from her committee assignments over issues like her repeated past expressions of apparent support for executing prominent Democrats, like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) belligerently indicated that Republicans would remove certain Democrats from committees if they regained the majority in the House, but Schiff wasn’t concerned. Instead, he commented as follows:

‘Look, Kevin McCarthy stands for nothing except the perpetuation of his own position. He has no values and in my view cares for little except hoping to be Speaker one day, God forbid. If members of either party are threatening violence against other members of the body and suggesting they be executed, if they are casting doubt on 9/11 or school shootings, if they’re heckling victims of crime like Marjorie Taylor Greene did with the victim of the Parkland shooting, if they’re suggesting that a religious group is shooting laser beams to start forest fires — they should be expelled from their committees, whatever party they are in. They shouldn’t frankly even be in the Congress.’
