The old saying that you get what you pay for is particularly true for Donald Trump’s impeachment trial dos. A week ago, his entire legal team quit. It was never clear whether they refused to argue the ex’s preferred case that the 2020 election was fraudulent, or Trump refused to pay them. He is known for stiffing people who work for him, especially attorneys. Thus far, his two brand new lawyers may get a three-dollar bill — each.
The Lincoln Report put out a stunning video that said so much by saying nearly nothing. Bruce L. Castor Jr. and David I. Schoen looked like weak tea after a powerful presentation by the House attorneys. An MSNBC pundit said the two Trump guys were the Four Seasons of the legal world. Their worst sin was admitting that the ex-president was a loser in the November election.
What else could they argue? Down at Mar-a-Lago, 45 was outraged at their poor performance. They were, well bad. Castor rambled all over the place from insulting the senators to praising Nebraska voters to explaining what a phonograph record was.
One individual who saw Trump’s reaction to their incompetence said, according to The New York Times.:
‘[On a scale of one to 10, with 10 being the angriest, Mr. Trump] was an eight.’

The NYT continued:
‘Mr. Castor, the first to speak, delivered a rambling, almost somnambulant defense of the former president for nearly an hour. Mr. Trump, who often leaves the television on in the background even when he is holding meetings, was furious, people familiar with his reaction said.’
