Amid disaster declarations, Texans have been trying to survive subzero weather without water, electricity, and food. Texas has its own power grid, because it wanted to remain independent. Apparently, private management does not work that well. There are two power grids managed by the federal government covering the rest of the country. President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle sent help and warm wishes to Texans.
Water lines and pipes to individual homes are bursting. There is a boil water order, but who would know given that people have no electricity to get that news or to boil the water? Senator Ted Cruz and family sneaked out of the country for the warmer climes of Cancun, but the Obamas lent Texans their support with this tweet:
‘Michelle and I are thinking of everyone across the country braving the winter storms this week. Here’s an overview of how you can help—or, if you’re in Texas, where you can go to stay warm or get support.’
The grid is starting to get electricity, but not water. Water has caused terrible damage in this deep freeze. A climate plunge like this has not happened since the late 1890s, 130 years ago, according to MSNBC. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) spoke to nation about the tragedy. She said there would be an investigation.
