Donald Trump’s legacy of racism, pettiness, and appointing his friends and donors to top positions for which they are not qualified has left President Joe Biden a full plate of tasks reversing the damage. On Wednesday, he tackled a few of Trump’s worst and/or most ridiculous policies in the areas of immigration, architecture, funding for predominantly black cities, and the beleaguered USPS.

Trump and his supporters have long insisted that they’re not against immigration, they simply want every immigrant to come into the country through legal channels. However, Trump closed most of the legal channels to immigrants, including the visa lottery and a path to citizenship for the family members of immigrants in the U.S.
According to POLITICO:
‘In a statement, Biden said former President Donald Trump’s order blocking green card applicants and temporary foreign workers “does not advance the interests of the United States.”‘

In a less harmful but simply unnecessarily expensive order that Trump signed in the waning days of his presidency was the order to build all federal buildings in the Greco-Roman style. Anyone who has seen photo or videos of the inside of Trump’s homes knows that he’s the last person on Earth anyone would want for a designer, and architects spoke out angrily against Trump’s order. Biden reversed that order, as well.
POLITICO reports that:
‘Trump’s executive order in December, titled “Promoting Beautiful Federal Civic Architecture,” disparaged the modernist architectural styles of some federal buildings as “ugly” and a jarring contrast with local architectural styles. The Trump administration hailed Greco-Roman-inspired buildings as an important homage to democracy in antiquity.’

Biden also addressed funding cuts that Trump demanded for cities where protests had been heaviest over the summer of 2020 when the country responded to the brutal, choking death of George Floyd by police. In other words, Trump wanted to cut funding for predominantly black cities, a move too transparent to deny.
Further, Biden will appoint a new board of directors for the USPS to address the current board appointed by Trump’s lack of experience in the postal service. He will add a diversity to the board with him appointments, which includes one man of color and one woman. The USPS has taken a lot of heat for reduced quality of service following the appointment of Trump donor Louis DeJoy as postmaster general, a man who also had no experience with the postal service.
NBC News reports that:
‘The current board is made up of six white men, and all have limited experience with the Postal Service. In contrast, Stroman is a former deputy postmaster general, and Hajjar is the former general counsel for American Postal Workers Union. McReynolds was the CEO of the National Vote at Home Institute and Coalition and former director of elections for Denver.’
