Never-Trump Republicans Announce Alliance To Restore GOP Dignity

Donald Trump and his golden calf, excuse me, golden self appeared at the Conservative Political Action Conference (C-PAC) Republican presidential kickoff. We saw his adoring base support him, and we saw how he attacked people who were against him, especially Republican legislators. Never fear, Republicans loyal to the country. Help is on the way.

Some Republicans who prefer their old GOP to the T-PAC (Trump-PAC), have decided to begin a new super PAC. It is for those legislators with an “R” after their name and a vote to impeach or convict Trump.

Representative Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), who has had no trouble criticizing the ex-president, founded the PAC. He named it  Americans Keeping Country First, according to The Washington Post.

By its own definition the super PAC is:

‘[D]edicated solely to defending the members of Congress who took votes of conscience to impeach or convict President Trump after rioters stormed the Capitol complex on January 6th, 2021.’

Americans Keeping Country First is the parallel nonprofit to Kinzinger’s own PAC. He just started his own PAC recently to go after “Trumpism” to “build a grassroots army.”

Trump claimed the leadership role of the GOP during his time at C-PAC. This, even though he was responsible for the loss of the White House, the Senate, and the House. This, after two impeachments.

One of America First PAC’s advisers Mario Catillo said:

‘[The new PAC] has a clearly defined mission to provide air cover for the members of Congress who took votes of conscience to impeach or convict President Trump.’

Ten Republicans in the House, including Kinzinger, voted to impeach Trump in January. The representative began the Country First PAC, because a “huge list” of Republicans, i.e. Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) are raking in the donations.

Kinzinger’s PAC will finance Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AL) who will be running again in the 2022 primaries and in the general election. Trump has already said that he intends to support primary challengers should any of them stand up for democracy and not him.

Castillo said that she thought American Keeping Country First will bring in the monies from Republican donors, who have expressed interest in the more traditional candidates.

The Lincoln Project, which was founded by traditional or former Republicans was launched as the anti-Trump GOP nonprofit. It has had its detractors both within and without the organization. Still, it carries on in its fight against Trump
