A museum of wax figures in San Antonio, Texas, had to remove its Donald Trump figure after repeated hits from visitors, according to a report from the San Antonio Express-News. Visitors at the museum, known as Louis Tussaud’s Waxworks, “punched and scratched the figure, inflicting so much damage that management had it pulled from public view,” according to the Express-News. Clay Stewart, who works as regional manager for the wax museum’s owner Ripley Entertainment, told the publication that the Texas facility’s Trump figure likely wouldn’t get put back on display until after a wax figure of Joe Biden is ready.

As summarized by the Express-News, Stewart said that “[visitors’] attacks on the wax Trump increased as the 2020 presidential campaign heated up early in the summer.” The museum moved the figure to the lobby in an attempt to keep the display under closer supervision, but the damage kept coming, so the facility put the wax Trump in storage in July of last year, although the facility only confirmed the move to the Express-News in recent days.

According to Stewart, other wax figures at the museum have been damaged by guests in the past. As he put it:

‘We’ve always had trouble with the presidential section because no matter what president it was — Bush, Obama or Trump — they’ve all had people beat them. The ears were torn off Obama six times. And then Bush’s nose was punched in… People are just aggressive about their political party.’

Trump has kept the option open of running for the presidency again in 2024, although he could be even further bogged down in legal trouble by then. He’s already facing two serious criminal investigations over issues ranging from possible fraud at his business to his attempt to get Joe Biden’s victory in Georgia thrown out, and more investigative efforts could be on the horizon. Trump, of course, has responded to the investigations by characterizing himself as a victim. As he put it recently, he’s facing “political persecution,” which is just laughable. Trump isn’t the victim here.
