In 2020, a deadly virus hit the United States, a virus that doctors and other medical scientists warned could be the worst since the 1918 Spanish flu that killed 675,000 Americans. Thank goodness the country had a former reality TV game show host and businessman who failed more often than he turned a profit to save us all.
Just kidding.

In fact, COVID-19 has so far killed more than 550,000 Americans and continues to kill about a thousand more Americans every day. Ex-president Donald Trump fought the expert scientists on his COVID task force every step of the way, but just one year later, a vaccine is being widely administered thanks to those scientists that Trump so despise.
On Monday, Trump responded to recent interviews by two of those medical scientists, Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx, who say that Trump was unwilling to listen to them and frightened them with his lack of comprehension and commitment to keeping the country safe. Trump appears to be unpleased with their statements and, never one to let a slight go, he had much to say in a statement about the two doctors.
According to The Hill, Trump said that:
‘Based on their interviews, I felt it was time to speak up about Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx, two self-promoters trying to reinvent history to cover for their bad instincts and faulty recommendations, which I fortunately almost always overturned. They had bad policy decisions that would have left our country open to China and others, closed to reopening our economy, and years away from an approved vaccine—putting millions of lives at risk.’
Dr. Fauci to CNN on Trump and COVID: "The thing that hit me like a punch to the chest was then all of a sudden he got up and said, 'Liberate Virginia, Liberate Michigan.' And I said to myself, 'Oh my goodness. What is going on here?'"

Speaking of self-promoters who try to rewrite history, Trump also called the two scientists “liars” who presented a real danger to the country as a result of their incompetence. Fauci, who developed the early treatments that turned HIV into a manageable disease rather than a certain death, and Birx, who served as Ambassador at Large and U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator, leading all HIV/AIDS efforts, were apparently just not as smart as the man who once appeared for about two minutes in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York and fired Gary Busey.
‘Dr. Birx is a proven liar with very little credibility left…The States who followed her lead, like California, had worse outcomes on Covid, and ruined the lives of countless children because they couldn’t go to school, ruined many businesses, and an untold number of Americans who were killed by the lockdowns themselves. Dr. Birx was a terrible medical advisor, which is why I seldom followed her advice.’
It is so unhinged, and because he remains in control of the GOP and its possible 2024 nomine the public should know how unhinged it is. He calls Fauci and Birx useless liars and rants that Fauci cannot throw a baseball. Trump also claims he saved “the entire world.” https://t.co/6Zy5c0KLLO

Considering recent statements made by the two premiere immunologists in the country, it is unlikely they’ll feel particularly shamed by the ex-president’s official statement. Fauci has expressed his relief at being able to tell the truth again now that Trump is gone and Birx, who was present the day Trump told the country that injections with bleach and disinfectant might kill the virus, says that Trump often refused to listen and was more concerned with the politics than the virus.
”Birx said that the first 100,000 deaths in the U.S. from the virus were difficult to prevent due to the fast-moving nature of the pandemic. But she argued that had the Trump administration acted more decisively, the rest of the deaths “could have been mitigated or decreased substantially.” More than 545,000 people have died from the virus in the United States.’
