Republicans have refused to systematically distance themselves from ex-President Donald Trump’s false claims that the 2020 presidential race was rigged against him, but the facts haven’t changed. There has never been any legitimate evidence of any systematic fraud problems in the 2020 election cycle in the U.S., although Republican state legislators have cited election integrity concerns while rolling out suppressive new voting restrictions, some of which have already been passed. Chris Krebs, who led the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency at the Department of Homeland Security until his firing by then-President Trump, fact-checked Republicans over the weekend.
Krebs wrote as follows on Twitter:
‘Just a reminder: the 2020 presidential election was legit! Secure, in fact. Record turn out to boot. Sounds to me like a model election. Some might not like the outcome, but the system the framers designed advanced the interests of the American voter as intended. Happy Easter!’

In the immediate aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, Krebs’s then-agency was responsible for a prominent statement affirming the security of the electoral process. Contrary to claims that Trump and some of his most prominent allies have pushed, the statement said that there was “no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised.” At one point, Trump even ludicrously claimed that Dominion Voting Systems equipment had “deleted” millions of his votes from across the country, but these claims are nonsense.
Although the election is months in the past and Joe Biden is in office as president, Trump is still sticking to his claim that the election was rigged, even after these lies were used as a pretext by the murderous rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol building in January. Just this Sunday, Trump yet again reiterated his rigged election claims, writing in a statement released by his Save America political action committee that “Radical Left CRAZIES… rigged our Presidential Election, and want to destroy our Country!” This statement is not the first place that he’s re-upped his rigged election nonsense since leaving the White House, and considering past behavior, it likely won’t be the last.
Jesus couldn’t have said it any better himself.
