Trump Freaks Out Over Grand Jury Convening Announcement

A grand jury has been convened in connection to the criminal investigation led by Manhattan-area District Attorney Cy Vance into former President Donald Trump and his business, and following the news, Trump publicly freaked out. The grand jury will consider whether or not to issue an indictment of the former president in the event that prosecutors present the group with a proposed charge or charges. In a rambling post on his blog, Trump referred to the grand jury news as “a continuation of the greatest Witch Hunt in American history” — in other words, the former president’s delusional victim complex continues to persist.

Donald “Poor Me!” Trump added in part as follows:

‘No other President in history has had to put up with what I have had to, and on top of all that, I have done a great job for our Country, whether it’s taxes, regulations, our Military, Veterans, Space Force, our Borders, speedy creation of a great vaccine (said to be a miracle!), and protecting the Second Amendment. This is purely political, and an affront to the almost 75 million voters who supported me in the Presidential Election, and it’s being driven by highly partisan Democrat prosecutors… Our Country is broken, our elections are rigged, corrupt, and stolen, our prosecutors are politicized, and I will just have to keep on fighting like I have been for the last five years!’

Trump’ egomania is just… wow. “No other President in history has had to put up with what” Trump has faced? Seriously? Abraham Lincoln led the country through a civil war. Franklin D. Roosevelt was president through the devastation of World War II. Ronald Reagan faced an assassination attempt while in office. Multiple presidents have tackled the racist violence that unfolded across the South in the aftermath of the Civil War. Even still, Trump continues to belligerently complain.

It’s ironic that Trump and his allies depict themselves as leaders of the working class or whatever considering the fact that this laughably whiny nonsense is what the former president puts out on a regular basis. Sure, hundreds of thousands of Americans have died due to COVID-19 while others have struggled to provide for their basic needs amid the economic devastation of the pandemic — but Trump is inconvenienced by a duly proceeding investigation launched in response to duly documented behavior on his part, so it’s apparently time to stop the presses!

It’s not even as though he has some kind of policy platform to back him up — he’s such a buffoon that just about the most specific that he appears to be able to get when discussing his supposed success is something like “protecting the Second Amendment”… and that’s it. What does he even mean by that? There’s not a big button in the White House that says “Press Here to Protect the Second Amendment!” Throughout his presidency, Trump seemed more concerned with tweeting and watching television than meaningfully engaging with the specifics of policy. That’s left him with a list of hollow catchphrases instead of a documentable understanding of basic public policy.
