We have been waiting. Newly released videos show the consequences of Trump’s attempted coup. On January 6, he convinced between 8,000 and 10,000 of his core supporters to attack the symbol of our Democracy. He ginned them up until they were a dehumanized seething mob and pointed them directly at our nation’s heart. The Capitol Police were severely outnumbered as new videos show, yet they fought for hours, facing off against insurmountable odds, fighting for our leaders’ very lives. Conversely, Republicans framed the event as “tourism” to save their own sad necks. Americans need some explanations, and finally, there is some movement on that front.
There really is not a Grand Old Party (GOP) any longer. Its members live in a hollow shell, their only goal is getting re-elected. Their air is getting pretty stale. Senator/farmer Jon Tester (D-MT) told reporters last year, when the control of the Senate was under Senator Mitch Grim Reaper McConnell’s (R-KY) great oppressive thumb, that they did nothing.
This year, old Grim announced he would not pass any bills, because he wanted to neuter President Joe Biden. Just like he did President Barack Obama. The Democratic legislators have been operating as if there was a valid Republican Party on the other side. But they are finally awakening to the realization, they are alone, with a few notable exceptions.
The Republicans refused to form a bipartisan committee such as the one that investigated the 9/11 tragedy. They refused.
In the meantime, House Speaker has announced that she will take it upon herself to form a bipartisan committee. She told the Democrats Steering and Policy Committee of her intent to form a House Select Committee:

Pelosi’s spokesperson was later forced to clarify her announcement, saying she intends to announce whether she’s forming a committee:

Speaker Pelosi has not given the details of the formation of the commission, although she has many Republicans eager to join and create a truly bipartisan panel. However, there are very few who do not publically support the Mar-a-Lago defacto GOP commander-in-chief.
With her decades of political experience, Pelosi will find a way to design a legitimate panel.
