Rudy Giuliani’s Law License Abruptly Suspended As Downfall Continues

Rudy Giuliani’s New York law license has now been suspended over his incessant lying about the integrity of last year’s presidential election, which he — like other allies of former President Donald Trump — has falsely claimed was somehow rigged for Joe Biden. Giuliani has been a chief proponent of the rigged election theories, pushing a slew of so-called evidence for the imaginary fraud, all of which has turned out to be simply not at all reflective of reality. A New York state appellate court observed the same, writing that they’d concluded that Giuliani issued “demonstrably false and misleading statements to courts, lawmakers and the public at large in his capacity as lawyer for former President Donald J. Trump.”

The court added as follows:

‘These false statements were made to improperly bolster [Giuliani’s] narrative that due to widespread voter fraud, victory in the 2020 United States presidential election was stolen from his client. We conclude that respondent’s conduct immediately threatens the public interest and warrants interim suspension from the practice of law, pending further proceedings before the Attorney Grievance Committee.’

This sudden suspension from practicing law, which was handed down after a request for that punishment by the Attorney Grievance Committee of the First Judicial Department, which handles complaints involving lawyers in areas including Giuliani’s apparent home base of Manhattan, marks another entry on a long list of problems for the former New York City mayor and longtime ally of the former president. Giuliani is also under federal criminal investigation for his overseas dealings, which could have violated laws governing lobbying on behalf of foreign interests.

Giuliani is also facing billions of dollars worth of defamation lawsuits from two voting technology companies, Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic, that were subjects of his only increasingly bonkers claims about the imaginary rigging of last year’s presidential election. Notably, at no point has Giuliani acknowledged the falsity of his election claims. Meanwhile, ex-President Donald Trump is apparently harboring the (false) idea that he will or at least could be reinstated as president by August of this year because of essentially imaginary evidence of the imaginary election fraud — so things aren’t exactly going great in Trump World.
