Well, what do you know? Arnold Schwarzenegger is back. But we are happy about that, because he cuts right to the heart of the mask mandate/no mask mandate matter. No political correctness. No circular logic. No careful sensibilities. No, the guy who starred in Terminator is someone who gives it to us straight.
This former California governor (R) appeared on CNN along with Bianna Golodryga and Alexander Vindman was promoting her new book Here, Right Matters. The network released a YouTube video of the interview on Wednesday.
The 74-year-old movie actor turned politician had this to say about wearing masks:
‘Because with freedom comes obligations and responsibilities. We cannot just say, “I have the right to do X, Y and Z.” When you affect other people, that is when it gets serious.’
The guy who started out as a bodybuilder compared rejecting face masks to ignoring traffic laws:
‘You cannot say, “No one is going to tell me that I’m going to stop here, that I have to stop at this traffic light here. I’m going to go right through it.” Then you kill someone else, and then it is your doing.
‘This is the same thing with the virus. You cannot go not put the mask on because when you breathe, you can infect someone else. And you can infect someone that then gets sick and may die.’
Schwarzenegger has been an outspoken proponent of social distancing and against COVID-19 vaccine misinformation. He even shared a video of himself getting the coronavirus vaccine here on CNN.
In the interview, he called upon Americans to “work together,” saying it’s “the only way we can lick this virus.”
Schwarzenegger continued:
‘Yeah, you have the freedom to wear no mask. But you know something, you’re a schmuck for not wearing a mask because you’re supposed to protect the fellow members around you.
‘I don’t want to villainize anyone here, but I just wanted to tell everyone, let’s work together and let’s stop fighting because there is a virus, and it’s better to get vaccinated [and] to wear a mask.’
