Michigan resident Logan Barnhart has now become one of the latest Trump insurrectionists to be arrested by federal authorities for participating in the Capitol riot. In particular, Barnhart perpetrated a violent physical assault against a law enforcement officer on that fateful day. Alongside other individuals who also participated in the assault, Barnhart dragged the officer down a set of stairs, and now, he is being held accountable for his actions.

As summarized by HuffPost, Barnhart was a “major target” for a group known as the Sedition Hunters, who — as their name suggests — have sought the identities of those who participated in the deadly Capitol violence in January. Eventually, HuffPost explains that the group “uncovered video of Barnhart during the Trump rally at the White House Ellipse prior to the attack that showed him without sunglasses,” and this footage appears to have assisted with identifying him. Barnhart’s own Instagram account also apparently helped with confirming his identity — Barnhart posted a photo and video to the account showing him wearing an American flag hat and Caterpillar-branded sweatshirt, respectively, and he eventually wore both items (or versions of both items) in Washington, D.C.

Other individuals involved in the assault that Barnhart helped perpetrate against a law enforcement officer on January 6 have already been arrested. Wade Whitton, who was alongside Barnhart during that attack, has been charged with crimes including engaging in physical violence in restricted grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon, and he is apparently currently in custody ahead of his trial, suggesting that the imminent consequences for Barnhart could be steep. Barnhart wrote on Instagram at one point in February that “what really happened at the [Capitol] is being hidden from you,” and while such a claim is obviously nonsensical, it suggests that he may not be inclined to plead guilty.

Notably, there’s a direct connection to incitement by Donald Trump in Barnhart’s case. Earlier this year, in response to a tweet in which Trump characterized the then-upcoming day of January 6 as a “historic day,” Barnhart replied: “I’ll be there.” And he was — directly implicating the disgraced former president yet again.
