The governors of two big states have finally stepped over the line of no return. Do not suppose that women cannot see what they are doing to us. They mandate no masks for the most innocent among us, our children under 12 years old. They mandate anyone can go bounty hunting women who have abortions in Texas, placing a $10,000 bounty on them and those who assist them, even distantly. True. Well, we have had enough as the polls have already begun to show. And this is what we are going to do.
Former Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) appeared on MSNBC Thursday, furious at the Heritage Foundation-chosen and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY)-stolen ultra-conservative Supreme Court Justices. As the first woman to serve as prosecutor for Jackson County (Kansas City), she prosecuted many rapists: She said:
‘I want bounty hunters on those who rape childen.’
Clearly, Florida Republican Governors Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and Greg Abbott (R-TX) are not pro-life, or they would be doing everything they could to protect our defenseless children. They must think women are stupid to not make the connection between these two issues. The polls have begun to reflect women’s anger.
Some of the youngest girls affected by Abbott’s latest no-abortionists bomb could end up suffering double risks. In incest, girls as young as nine begin to get their periods, and little girls do get pregnant. That means, they not only must face a deadly disease, they must also risk a pregnancy. The younger the girl, the riskier it is to her health, the Association of American Family Physicians indicated. Do we call that a $10,000 bounty on her head or child abuse?
These guys are not pro-life. If they were, they would not do the equivalent of placing our most precious commodity, our children, in front of the coronavirus train. No, this is a poorly disguised attempt at controlling women. But look at what happened when House Republican leaders tried to muzzle Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) for calling Donald Trump out and standing up for democracy. As is often said, “When Mamma isn’t happy, nobody’s happy.”
The COVID-19 crises in the Sunshine State and the Lone Star State continue to grow by leaps and bounds even as school districts try to fight back against the non-sensical ban on mandated masks in the classrooms. COVID-19 and even worse the Delta variant diseases are far too terrible to watch, and yet parents must. Florida set a record for COVID deaths per day on Thursday. And three million Texans have the COVID-19 virus. Over 55,600 people in this state have died in the coronavirus pandemic.
A new Morning Consult Poll came out Thursday showing 51 percent of independent voters disapprove of DeSantis. A month ago, that number was 38 percent. Among all voters, he dropped 14 percent. The Forbes Magazine said:
‘DeSantis still has strong support among the GOP base, with more than four in five Florida Republicans saying they still approve of the governor, although that number dipped slightly since the beginning of July, from 87 percent to 83 percent.’
Abbott’s support is dropping like a rock, too, since the pandemic began. Forty-eight percent of independent voters have been disparaging Abbott. Now that percentage has shot up to 54 percent. Overall, he fell seven percentage points in this poll.
Forbes continued:
‘By the last week in August, more than 23,000 new cases of Covid-19 were being reported in Florida daily, which was roughly 30 percent higher than the state’s previous peak in January.’
‘Hospitalizations and Covid-related deaths also hit all-time highs as the delta variant wreaked havoc in the Sunshine State. Texas was also dealing with a dangerous spike in late August, averaging in excess of 17,000 daily infections for the first time since early February.’
