The big lie is part of the big tantrum. Imagine this. A 75-year-old six-feet-plus-something chubby man with god-awful hair throws himself onto the floor of the Oval Office redfaced, kicking, and screaming. It is not pretty. But that is what Donald Trump has been figuratively doing since November 3, 2020. A Texas judge condemned Governor Greg Abbott for giving into the tantrum, “following orders from Mar-a-Lago,” and handing the ex another state audit.
In a letter from Trump to Abbott on Thursday, the ex-president said according to The Washington Newsday:
‘Despite my great triumph in Texas, I hear Texans demand an election audit! I’m sure your fellow Texans have a lot of questions regarding the next election in November 2020.’
The Texas Secretary of State released an audit of the results from the counties of Dallas, Harris, Tarrant, and Collin on Thursday. This was in response to Trump ordering Abbott to conduct another audit of the state’s election results.
Several Texas county judges were quite displeased. The new audit idea was a surprise to them. They not only had no concept of the scope of the audit, they found out about them in a news release from the secretary of state’s office.
Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins, a Democrat tore into Trump with The Texas Tribune resulting in this Twitter:
‘This is a weak Governor accepting commands from a discredited former President openly and shamelessly. Governor Abbott is squandering taxpayer cash to stomp on Texans’ right to vote, all to placate his puppeteer.’
After all, Trump won by around six points statewide.
Judge Lina Hidalgo of Harris County, Texas said on MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show:
‘Governor Greg Abbott will conduct so-called “audits” of the 2020 election results in four Texas counties because Donald Trump asked him to, and how Republicans are using the audit scam as a basis for undermining democracy in the U.S. and challenging election results they don’t like.’
Republican Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley said that “it’s time to move on,” and claimed “conspiracy theorists who want to come up with all these ways” shake the voting system.
Even former-Director of the Central Intelligence (CIA) Agency Gina Haspel said Donald Trump was “acting out like a six-year-old with a tantrum,” according to Bob Woodward and Robert Casta in their new book Peril, published by Simon & Schuster.
Haspel was especially “unnerved by Trump’s firing of Defense Secretary Mark Esper.” She said he was:
‘[A]cting out like a six-year-old [after the election] We are on the way to a right-wing coup. The whole thing is insanity.’
Texas county judges are also chiefs of emergency management. According to the Texas Association of Counties, they could also serve as budget officers in the smaller counties.
President Joe Biden did win 65 percent of the vote in Dallas County and 56 percent in Harris County. He won 49.3 percent of the vote in Tarrant County, versus Trump’s 49.1 percent. And Trump won 51+ percent of the vote in Collin County.
