Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman is a living American Hero. He was willing to risk his career to tell the truth in Donald Trump’s 2019 impeachment trial. He understood what would happen if he did. He would face the wrath of MAGA. But his efforts have helped save our democracy.
Indeed, not only did the former president have someone fire him from the NSC, he did the same to Vindman’s twin brother, the senior ethics official also at the NSC, Lt. Col. Yevgeny Vindman, according to The POLITICO. Then, Trump froze both of their careers.
Today, Alexander Vindman continues his truth-telling. He is urging people to vote for Terry McAuliffe in Virginia’s gubernatorial race. He reminded people why it is so important for them to vote in this off-year. Every race, especially governors’ races, is vital:
‘The Virginia election is as much about national security as it is about the prosperity of the Commonwealth. Virginia is a bell-weather. If a Trump wins here, I fear Trumpism will continue to seize the body-politic of the U.S. A vote for @TerryMcAuliffe is a vote against Trumpism.‘
Vindman and his brother were sent back to the Pentagon in retaliation, The New York Times reported, where Alexander faced:
‘[A] campaign of bullying, intimidation, and retaliation” and is now writing a memoir and getting a doctorate.’
His father immigrated to the U.S. from Ukraine when it was part of the Soviet Union along with Vindman and his brothers, according to NPR.
McAuliffe is running against an embedded Trump acolyte, and our democracy is in the crosshairs:
