Trump Publicly Melts Down Over Accounting Firm Abandoning Family

Donald Trump is… let’s just say not taking well to the recent decision by the Trump company’s longtime accounting firm, Mazars, to sever ties with the Trump Organization. The accounting company also informed Trump’s business that it believes statements of financial condition for the Trump Organization with which it was involved to no longer be trustworthy; as a Mazars executive put it to a Trump company lawyer, although the accountants had “not concluded that the various financial statements, as a whole, contain material discrepancies, based upon the totality of the circumstances, we believe our advice to you to no longer rely upon those financial statements is appropriate.” In a sprawling statement that he released this week, Trump blamed supposed intimidation including from New York state Attorney General Letitia James (D) for the Mazars decision, and he even appeared to characterize himself as a victim of racism. Does it get more ridiculous?

Trump also contested the notion that the disputed financial statements oversold his financial state, saying — in familiarly bumbling language — that he has “a great company with fantastic assets that are unique, extremely valuable and, in many cases, far more valuable than what was listed in our Financial Statements.” Under-valuing the Trump Organization’s assets is actually something that’s specifically been alleged; lower values were poised to help the company lessen their tax bills: so is Trump… admitting to this? As for his attempt at explaining the Mazars decision, Trump added as follows:

‘The accounting firm Mazars has been threatened, harassed, and insulted like virtually no other firm has ever been. They were essentially forced to resign from a great long-term account by the prosecutorial misconduct of a highly political, but failed, gubernatorial candidate, Letitia James, and the Hillary Clinton run District Attorney’s Office of Manhattan, where crime has reached levels not even thought possible… The actions of the AG and DA… reveal the vile and malicious intent that underlies the nonstop barrage of insults and threats aimed at me and the Trump Organization, including their years-long review of over nine million pages of documents that go far beyond the Statute of Limitations.’

Melodramatically, Trump also claimed that Mazars, “who were scared beyond belief, in conversations with us made it clear that they were willing to do or say anything to stop the constant threat which has gone against them for years. They were ‘broken’ and just wanted it all to stop.” Eventually, Trump got to the nonsensical racism allegations, ranting that after “five years of constant bombardment, this political and racist attack must stop!” Donald Trump has got to be one of the most self-obsessed people in the public eye. Is there anything that he won’t melodramatically whine about to maybe try and garner some sympathy from the people he’s duped into being his supporters? The investigative efforts that he’s faced haven’t been based in nothing; it’s been tangible evidence leading the way throughout these developments.
