Remember when Donald Trump looked into the TV camera and spoke to his buddy Russian President Vladimir Putin while he was campaigning in 2016? He was nearing the end of the presidential campaign and right after the video broke showing him being extremely crude about women. Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA) remembers.
Five hours after Trump told Russia to find his opponent Hillary Clinton’s emails, lo and behold, they appeared, C-Span reported:
‘Russia, if you’re listening — I hope you are able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press. Let’s see if that happens.’
Did the Russians actually swing the election for him? Schiff pointed out the pattern that both Trump and Putin share. He called it “ugly.”
The California representative reminded us that Trump “withheld military aid too Ukraine to get help in his 2020 campaign:”
‘Trump is again cozying up to Putin. It’s part of an ugly pattern. He welcomed and used Russian help in his 2016 campaign. He withheld military aid to Ukraine to get help in his 2020 campaign. And it won’t be the last time that Trump undermines US security. If we let him.’
A 2015 photograph emerged of the former president’s National Security Advisor Michael Flynn sitting at a banquet table with Putin. Clinton’s opponent in 2016, the Green Party Candidate Jill Stein, took just enough votes for the politician to lose. She was also seated at that table.
But that is not all. In addition:
- Trump arranged for his daughter to spend the day with a Russian oligarch responsible for building when she was only in her twenties. And Russian oligarchs invested $100 million in Trump’s project, Reuters reported.
- The former president’s campaign manager Paul Manafort and his deputy Rick Gates “shared internal polling data and campaign strategy with a suspected Russian spy on the understanding that he would pass the information along to Kremlin-linked oligarchs,” NBC reported.
- After Trump was elected his son-in-law Jared Kushner was trying to arrange a secret line of communications to Russia, according to The Washington Post.
- Trump shared highly-classified documents with Russians in the Oval Office, The Guardian reported.
- He set up a meeting in Poland where he met with Putin for 90 minutes alone. There was not even a transcriber with them.
