Reporter Peter Doocy was trying to goad our president into anger or a misstep at a Thursday press meeting. But he underestimates President Biden. POTUS may be relatively soft-spoken, but beneath that blue suit is a spine of steel. This is how the exchange went.
Fox News’ Doocy is like that truly annoying person we have coming toward us and cannot avoid. This Fox News Reporter is like that. We know he is sitting among the press members, and everyone waits for his obnoxious question. So after President Joe Biden announced his new sanctions against Russia, the reporter got the president’s attention.
Doocy asked POTUS a question that was based upon a totally false assumption:
‘Did you underestimate Putin, and would you still describe the way you did in the summer as a worthy adversary?’
The president had a priceless expression on his face, and then he responded:
‘At the time, I made it clear he was an adversary. I didn’t underestimate him. I have read almost everything he has written. You heard the speech he made, almost an hour’s worth of speeches as to why he’s going to Ukraine. He has much larger ambitions. He wants to re-establish the former Soviet Union. That is what this is about. I think that his ambitions are completely contrary to the place where the rest of the world has arrived.’

President Biden has been handling the approach to this war beautifully. He has shown a mighty effort in an attempt to avoid the conflict. In addition, he released information about the war normally held in secret. He also kept our country’s friends in the loop. Normally, presidents are not good at that.
It appeared that Doocy wanted our president to fail in this conflict. The reporter tried to mush onward after President Biden answered him. But this president stopped him by moving on to another reporter.
The ex-president, the Trump/Republican Party, and the far-right media have all been attempting to trip President Biden up when in a better more patriotic time, we would have stood united against the Russians.
