As the Ukrainians show the not-so-Grand Old Party what patriotism looks like, Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) attempted to do the same thing. The Republican Party has devolved into a Donald Trump Party filled with such champions as Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Paul Gosar (R-AZ). This is how it went.
Romney appeared on CNN and made this surprising comment:
‘Marjorie Taylor Greene and Paul Gosar, I don’t know them. I’m reminded of the old line from the ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid’ movie, where one character says, “Morons, I have morons on my team.”‘
Then, he added there is “no place” for either Republicans or Democrats to hang out with white nationalists or racists. He added that it was “simply wrong”
Representative Greene was the featured speaker at a white nationalist conference (AFPAC) held at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Florida. A white nationalist leader Nick Fuentes was heavily involved. And Representative Paul Gosar was also there, according to The Huffington Post.
The House January 6 Select Committee recently subpoenaed Fuentes for his part in Donald Trump’s failed coup, attacking the U.S. Capitol Building.
The Georgia representative explained to CBS News:
‘I don’t know what his views are, so I’m not aligned with anything that may be controversial. I went to his event last night to address his very large following because that is a young, very young, following and a generation I am extremely concerned about.’
Romney was not the only one who condemned Greene and Gosar. Representative Liz Cheney (WY) also slammed her fellow House Republicans for attending the conference:
‘As Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene and Rep Paul Gosar speak at this white supremacist, anti-Semitic, pro-Putin event, silence by Republican Party leaders is deafening and enabling. All Americans should renounce this garbage and reject the Putin wing of the GOP now.’
Romney added:
‘I would think that anybody that would sit down with a white nationalist and speak at their conference would certainly be missing a few IQ points.’

Former crusader for the “white supremacist street-fighting club Rise Above Movement” Vincent James Foxx claimed that the Democrats “want to replace you:”
‘They want to replace you. Western white culture is the majority culture, to which even non-whites assimilate into today — and they’re better off for it.’
