It’s not a surprise to find out there’s something Donald Trump doesn’t understand. After all, he’s the same president who thought Canada once attacked the White House, that Frederick Douglass was still alive, and asked his chief of staff, General John Kelly, what Pearl Harbor was “all about.” With the situation in Ukraine escalating, however, Trump has become the loudest voice in the room, crowing about how Russia’s aggression against Ukraine is all Joe Biden’s fault and that if he were still president, Putin would have never done the things that Trump called “genius” and “very savvy.”

Apparently, that’s not all Trump didn’t understand about Ukraine that posed problems during his administration. In an interview on Newsmax, the last place one would expect to find criticism of the twice-impeached ex-president who lost the popular vote twice, former national security advisor John Bolton said that, during his administration, Trump “barely knew where Ukraine was.” His knowledge of Finland was outright laughable, but sadly so, as well.
‘In almost every case, the sanctions were imposed with Trump complaining about it and saying we were being too hard. The fact is that he barely knew where Ukraine was. He once asked John Kelly, his second chief of staff, if Finland were a part of Russia. It’s just not accurate to say that Trump’s behavior somehow deterred the Russians.’
