Before the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was elected, he was a comedian. One thing we know about comedians is that it takes a quick wit and a high degree of intelligence to succeed. Now, he appears on the world stage as a hero but under a vicious threat.
Even though President Joe Biden offered him the opportunity to evacuate Ukraine, Zelenskyy turned him down. Instead, he remained to lead the fight for his country independent democracy. That also left the Ukrainian president open to assassination plots, according to The Axios.
A leading Ukrainian official said that the military intervened in an assassination plot against his president. The Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council chief Oleksiy Danilov posted on Telegram a notice that the nation’s military was successful in halting the dreadful attempt to kill Zelenskyy. He did not appear diminished by the news.
Danilov said the Kadyrovites, elite Chechen forces, were sent by Russia’s President Vladimir Putin for the attempt on Zelenskyy’s life.
Danilov told The Telegram:
‘❗️They wanted to kill Zelenskyy. Danilov spoke about the elimination of elite Kadyrovites It became known about the liquidation of a group of elite Kadyrovites who planned to assassinate President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This was announced by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov during a briefing.urity and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov during a briefing.’
‘We are well aware of the special operation that was to take place directly by the Kadyrovites to eliminate our president.’
According to Danilov, the people from Russia’s Federal Security Service who dislike this war told authorities about the plot.
Putin’s ally Yevgeny Prigozhin owns the Wagner Group, a private military composed of 2,000 to 4,000 mercenaries. They came into Ukraine via Belarus apparently this January, according to The Times of London. There were 400 sent to assassinate Zelenskyy:
‘Some 400 of them were deployed to Kyiv, while others were sent to the pro-Kremlin regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, the newspaper reported. ‘
The Ukraine president is at the top of Putin’s kill list. And 23 other senior Ukrainian officials follow. The names include “Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.”
The Kadyrovites assigned to the assassination plot were split into two parts. The first was wiped out in Gostomel, and the other was currently “under fire.”
The Ukrainian president was not aware of the assassination plot until the war was well underway. Ukraine’s armed citizens formed a fierce resistance effort, and along the Ukrainian military hampered Putin’s attempts to dismantle the country. All military efforts from Russian have had to accept that reality.
Wednesday, the Russian military focused its efforts on bombing larger city citizens, especially Kharkiv. It is second in population only to Kyiv.
Zelenskyy was elected president in 2019 after the Ukrainians threw out a Putin puppet. He had no political background, but that may have been to his advantage.
