Republican Voters Are Breaking From Trump & Tucker Carlson In Polling

When Russia first attacked Ukraine, Trump loyalists like Steve Bannon were thrilled that Putin was “anti-woke.” The Fox News talking head claimed that Putin was just an “innocent victim of Democratic propaganda.” Trump’s immediate remarks when he heard the news of Putin’s attack was that the Russian dictator was “genius,” “savvy,” and picked up some good real estate. Tucker Carlson was so attracted to Putin and his insurrection, the Kremlin used his words as propaganda to sway the Russian people.
As the violence became worse and worse, these Putin lovers had to change their communication lines, because regular Republicans were not going for it. In fact, they considered the vicious war grotesque. A Quinnipiac University poll from last week took a look at the distance between the Carlson and Bannon crew and Republicans.

Granted Democratic voters were definitely anti-Putin, but Republicans were right there with them, 55 percent calling Putin “unstable.” On the other hand, 61 percent felt very good about the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Indeed, 66 percent of Trump’s party agreed with sanctioning Russia — even if they had to pay higher prices as the gas pump.
