The anti-Trump conservative group known as The Lincoln Project tore into Fox host Tucker Carlson this week for his support for arguments that are essentially pro-Putin amid the war in Ukraine that has been unfolding following Russia’s recent invasion of the country. Recently, Mother Jones revealed that Kremlin recommendations for Russian government-aligned media outlets pushed for those media sources to use Carlson in their coverage. A March 3 document produced by the Russian government insisted it was “essential to use as much as possible fragments of broadcasts of the popular Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who sharply criticizes the actions of the United States [and] NATO, their negative role in unleashing the conflict in Ukraine, [and] the defiantly provocative behavior from the leadership of the Western countries and NATO towards the Russian Federation and towards President Putin, personally.”

In a caption for their new video going after Carlson, The Lincoln Project wrote, “Supporting President Putin is all in a day’s work for [Tucker Carlson].” A message on-screen in the video added that the “Kremlin pays billions for their Putin propaganda. But why should they? Tucker Carlson does it for free.” Check out the new video below:

Carlson has essentially tried to excuse the Putin regime of responsibility for the barbarity that it has perpetrated in Ukraine. Recently, Carlson insisted that the U.S. had been “inciting war with Russia,” adding, as though his nonsense was an established fact: “Why in the world would the United States intentionally seek war with Russia? How could we possibly benefit from that war?” The United States is not currently at war with Russia, to be clear, although it’s certainly supporting Ukraine as the devastating conflict unfolds. Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) recently said that Carlson’s show should be taken off-the-air over the host’s support for Putin’s rhetoric. Kinzinger commented, in reference to Carlson’s coverage promoting deceptive claims about supposed U.S.-funded “biolabs” in Ukraine (where there actually aren’t any U.S.-funded biological warfare facilities): “Traitorous activity. Why is [Fox News] still allowing [Tucker Carlson] to spew his lies for Putin? I know it will cost in ad revenue, but [Fox News] should suspend or cancel his show.” Kinzinger said that he was invited to go on Carlson’s show this week but declined. As Kinzinger put it Monday: “Tucker Carlson invited me on his show tonight, but that’s not going to happen…ever. While he echoes Putin’s lies, I’ll remain focused on supporting the Ukrainian people.”
