“Joe Biden is a president we can be proud of” — that’s what the anti-Trump conservative group known as The Lincoln Project declared alongside a video they shared on Twitter this week showcasing the return of “decency” to American political life heralded by the ascent of Joe Biden to the presidency. The video was seemingly an earlier production, but the group shared it in response to a moment captured on camera during Biden’s trip overseas this week. In a photo shared on Twitter by White House communications official Meghan Hays, Biden “comforts a child that recently fled to Warsaw” from the violence in Ukraine, as that official explained it. In the video that The Lincoln Project shared in response, an on-screen message — referring in part to Trump — reads as follows:

‘Our presidents rise in moments of crisis to hear our pain and lead us forward. Until now. The time has come to restore decency.’

During his time in Europe, Biden has once again reiterated U.S. leadership in the worldwide push against Russian President Vladimir Putin in response to the unfolding war in Ukraine. Biden visited members of the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division in Poland on Friday, commenting that “what’s at stake is not just what we’re doing here in Ukraine to help the Ukrainian people and keep the massacre from continuing, but beyond that what’s at stake is what are your kids and grandkids going to look like in terms of their freedom?.. What you’re engaged in is much more than whether or not we can alleviate the suffering of Ukraine… We’re in a new phase, your generation. We’re at an inflection point.”

As reported on this site, the White House has kept up the pace of new punitive actions targeting Putin’s regime. While in Europe this week, Biden and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced an initiative to assist with bringing down European dependence on Russian energy. The United States announced a ban on Russian energy, but U.S. allies in Europe weren’t in a position to take such an all-encompassing step. The United States “will work toward supplying Europe with at least 15 billion cubic meters of liquefied natural gas in 2022, in partnership with other nations,” as CNN explained the White House’s revelations. Over 600 interests inside Russia have been targeted by U.S. sanctions, including hundreds of Russian government officials and dozens of Russian government-owned defense enterprises. The U.S. has also repeatedly provided defense assistance to Ukraine, including various forms of weapons like anti-aircraft and anti-armor equipment. Ukrainian defenders have scored significant tactical victories against Putin’s invaders, who have lost multiple generals, over a dozen commanders, hundreds of tanks, and thousands of individual soldiers, according to reports.
